Two Days

11. Your Top 3 Favorite Bands

1.The Weakerthans

I've been listening to these guys for years now. A lot of people don't recognize the name, either. Apparently they're pretty popular in Canada.
There music, I always find, is inspiring. Every time I listen to them, I feel like I learn something. The Weakerthans have a song for any moment of any day. For any feeling, any emotion and any situation.

2.Protest the Hero
Here is another band that I've been following for a few years now. Their album "Kezia" is my absolute favorite. I often choose them for long car rides. (They keep me awake!) They're one of the few heavy bands that I've discovered that actually have important lyrics. Important lyrics AND a concept album? From a metal band?! Yes, it is possible!

I don't really have a third, to be honest. I have my two favorites, then the rest that I really, really like are all pretty even!

12. Your Thoughts or Opinions on Harry Potter

Funny that you should ask, as we just spent Thanksgiving watching the first 6, then went to the movies the next day to see the 7th.
I grew up with Harry Potter (and Harry Potter grew up with me, actually). So, the entire series is very dear to me. Every book and every movie has been purchased or viewed on the first available day (except for this last one, actually, because I was traveling...) Basically, I freaking love the Harry Potter series.

There Ain't No Rest For the Wicked

Sagging, tired eyes
What is this thing you speak of?
"Sleep" is what it's called?
I've lost count of how many days it has been since I've slept well. Going to bed at 6:30 am isn't cutting it. For some reason I keep tossing and turning.
Luckily enough, I've been able to keep myself busy.
So far I've nearly completed my Fallout 3 Laser Rifle prop for my Halloween costume. The rest of my outfit is ready to go. Same with Van's.
The other night I worked the midnight release for Fallout New Vegas. What a wonderful time!
Of course I left the store with my collector's edition copy, I haven't had a chance to play it though.
After leaving the midnight release a little later than 1 am, I drove a friend of mine home, then picked up my other friend, Jason, and we drove to Philly.
In the pouring rain.
At 2 am.
Several Full Throttles, a NOS, a Rockstar and a Venom later....
We got to my parents' house at 6 am, just as Dad was leaving for work.
Almost immediately we went to sleep, just to wake up in 4 hours then drive an hour into Center City.
There we waited at the Rock School of Dance to audition to work at DISNEY WORLD!
This was very exciting.
I figured, though, that we would just do some minor acting auditions and get an interview. I was sorely mistaken.
And sore in general.
Turns out we had to dance for approximately 3 hours. Almost non-stop. After being so exhausted (and sick from drinking all those poisons on an empty stomach that morning...), dancing was the LAST thing I needed to do. I was certain that I was going to faint.
The auditions were out at 5 pm. I felt confident and sweaty and ready to collapse.
With eyes drooping and heads nodding, we finally made our way home, ate dinner, then watched the extremely disappointing Scream Awards.
At 8 o'clock this morning, we woke up and made our way back to New York. Traffic was awful, due to ungodly amounts of construction.
I dropped Jason off at his house, then went to Planet New York and added on to my tattoo.
Now, I'm home, sitting on the couch, typing this with my eyes closed, ready to fall asleep. Maybe I'll make cookies for Van tonight, since I just got some chocolate chip cookie dough from Mom.
Or maybe I'll just lay on the floor until someone scoops me up with a giant spatula...

Day 14, 15 and 16. Along with some other things.

Day 14- A picture of you and your family.
This is my family and I on our cruise to the Bahamas.
It was quite a fun time.
Also the first vacation we had been on together in 19 years, I believe.

Day 15- Put your iPod on shuffle: First 10 songs that play.
This is so something that you are not going to want to sit through...
Alright, here goes nothing:

1. Creep (Acoustic) - Radiohead
(Unfortunately this version is edited.)

2. Baby, I Got Your Money (Cover) - Say Anything

(This cracks me up)

3.Damn You Looks Good And I'm Drunk (Scandalous) - Cobra Starship

(And this is definitely the first time I've ever heard this song.)

4. Whole Day Off (Live) - Oingo Boingo

(If you didn't know, this is Danny Elfman's band.)

5. We Are The Gothic Archies - Gothic Archies

(Gothic Archies singer is also in a band called The Magnetic Fields. Some of their music can be found in the TV show Queer as Folk. They also did the soundtrack for one of my favorite movies: Pieces of April.

6. Screaming at the Wailing Wall - Flogging Molly

(Flogging Molly. Not a whole lot to say here. Just good ol' Flogging Molly. Though, I was listening to them yesterday, so it is kind of funny that they turned up here.)

7.Group Sex - Cirlce Jerks

(Never listened to this song, either, to be honest. Well, not that I remember, at least.)

8. The Age of Pamparius - Turbonegro

(Another one that I've never listened to before. As you can see, my ipod doesn't get much use anymore...)

9. Horror Beach - Horrorpops

(These guys are wonderful live. I highly recommend seeing them, if you ever get the chance.)

10. Dance in the Sand - Shwayze

(Shwayze is so chill....)

Day 16- Another picture of yourself

200th Post! (Day10/Day11, too!)

Wowwee!

200th post today.

Ive had this blog for...2 years now, I think?
Something like that.

Unfortunately I've nothing to celebrate this 200th post with, other than the fact that I'm eating guacamole.

Can I just mention that avocados have 1/4 of the calories of butter?
Also 1/4 of the fat!
They also have 0 choleserol and 0 sodium!

So, next time you go to spread some butter or toss a slice of cheese on your sandwhich, stop and slice up some delicious avocado instead, or spread some guac on the bread.
Yum!

I also missed Day 10 yesterday. So I will encoorperate that into this post.

Day 10- Songs you listen to when you are Happy, Sad, Bored, Hyped, Mad
.

Happy- Anything, usually. Often some kind of techno.
Sad- Regina Spektor, Sufjan Stevens.
Bored- I look for new music!!
Hyped- Protest the Hero! RAAAH!
Mad- I don't listen to music when I'm mad, for the most part. I throw things instead.

See? Wasn't that exciting??

And, for day 11.

Day 11- Post another picture of you and your friends
See above.

That would be my best friend Jess and I.
Awesome.
Long story short.
We started a fake band.
Wrote some hilarious songs.
Ran from the police.
Spring break.
2008.

Because I'm A Heartless, Sarcastic Bitch

Another list.

I used to say that I thought I was a rather patient person. As my life goes on and I encounter more people, this theory seems to change a little bit. Perhaps morals are just different from what they used to be. Maybe people have just stopped caring. Who knows. I certainly don't. There are a lot of things that I see kids (and adults, for that matter) doing that I know for sure I would have gotten in HUGE trouble for if I did.
Not to say that my parents were strict, because they definitely were not; they just brought me up to generally be polite, courteous and have manners. I must say that for this I am thankful.

Sadly though, I see how people act these days and it sickens me. I don't mean to be "hoity-toity" or stuck up, but at the rate our race is going, we're about to drive ourselves into the ground.

So, now, it is time for another list!

SKELLYTON'S SOCIAL PET PEEVES
1. Playing music off of your cellphone in public.
Whether you're sitting on the bus, walking through the mall or eating at a restaurant, you should NOT have your cellphone out playing your shit-quality MP3's for everyone to hear. Use some headphones. I don't want to know your "Top 10 favorite songs this week" while I am trying to enjoy me meal.
I once had a couple come in to Ruby Tuesday's while Van and I were eating, sit down at the table across from us and play music through their cellphone throughout their entire meal. Should I have said something? Probably. Would it have made a difference? No. Why? They were friends with the waiter. Go figure.
2. Take up two parking spaces, because your car is "the shit".
There is no need for you to double park your shit. If you do this intentionally, you are a pompous asshole. If you do this accidentally, you are a 16 year old girl that just got her license.
Another time, while at the mall, Van and I encountered another bout of douchebaggery. It was a Saturday afternoon and the parking lots were almost all full at the movie theater. It took us at least 15 minutes to find a space, when finally, low and behold, there was one! We begin to pull our car up only to see that someone had very intentionally parked on the line. This irked me horribly. If you are worried about your car getting scratched or bumped, don't take it to the mall. Don't take it to the movie theater at the mall. Don't take it to the movie theater at the mall on the Saturday afternoon. And lastly, don't take it to the movie theater at the mall on Saturday afternoon in POUGHKEEPSIE NEW YORK. I hastily wrote a note that said "You;re car isn't THAT nice, asshole" stuck it on their windshield, then went and enjoyed my film. The end.
3. Pure and simple laziness
Laziness within reason, I can handle. Being so lazy that you cause more strain for someone else, I cannot. Laziness and ignorance go hand and hand, to me.
Guess where I was for this one? Yep! THE MALL! Though, this time I was working. Sadly, this happens on a somewhat regular basis. A customer comes in, hustling like their ass in on fire, and comes up to me. They do not say "hi", they do not say "excuse me". The first thing out of their mouth is "I need 'x'". Now, 'x', is usually a CD of sorts. Let's say its The Rolling Stones.
"I need The Rolling Stones."
Usually in this situation, I would like to reply "No. You don't. You WANT the Rolling Stones. You don't need shit." But I don't. I don't say it. Usually, to be honest, I say "okay."
"You'll be able to find it a lot faster than I will, I don't have a lot of time."
"Its under "R" for "Rolling". All of our CDs go alphabetically."
"Where is that?"
"Under "R". Comes after "Q" and before "S"."
"You need to show me."
Jesusfuckingchristmaythisearthburnbeforemeandsufferonethousandfierydeaths.
At this point, I stop whatever I am doing, walk over to the very predominantly labeled "R" section and point to the 4 to 5 rows of Rolling Stones CDs we have.
"Which one is the latest?"
"I don't know...here..."
I then pick up a CD and look at the date on the back, explaining that CDs have a date on the back. I hand them the one that says "2010"
"Is this the latest one?"
"Yes. Its from 2010."
They then walk away without a word.
Apparently working in retail makes you sub human.
This post is getting far to long, so perhaps I will continue my list later on.

This Entire Society Needs Rehab.

There have been many many posts around the internet about the state of modern music.
We all know that it is god awful. We all know it is nothing but autotune. We all know that it takes little to no talent to "make it" in the musical world these days.
But there is no point in beating a dead horse.

THOUGH.

I would like to touch on it for just one moment.

Not only is music shitty as all hell,
but the majority of it is sending a wretched message.

It is amazing how even when someone isn't paying attention to what they're listening to, it still sticks in their mind.

I noticed this the other day while I was walking through Michael's.

In the process of purchasing leather string and clamps for jewlery, I heard a young girl, about 7; her brother, about 5; and her mother.

As I was making my selection, I heard the tiny girl's voice singing "Your love, your love, your love is my drug!"

This made me absolutely sick.

First off, that the girl was singing such a stupid thing, secondly, that the mother didn't tell her to shut her little mouth and keep such trash out of it, and thirdly, that her mother let her listen to that putrid, rancid shit in the first place.

Putrid.
rancid.
shit.

I guaruntee you that my children will NOT listen to such wretched music. Especially at that age.
Whether the song is about "love" or not, the last thing I want is my daughter to be admiring some coked out trashy whore or supporting her music.

I need to stop writing about this.
This sickens me.

But I Can't Remember The Sound That You Found For Me.

Scene1: Camera pans to outside of a closed window. A girl, about 20 stands at the window looking outside at the rain. She turns her head to look back into the bedroom, through the doorway. A man, about 30 is seen sleeping on the couch, the television flickering. Girl turns and takes one last look outside before darting from the window.
Camera focuses on front door. Door opens, girl hurries outside, pulling on a coat and carrying a bag. She puts up her hood and runs down the sidewalk. Camera follows behind her.
She slows to a walk.

Scene2: (next day)Man is seen walking down the sidewalk. It is no longer raining.

Scene3: (next day)Girl sits on a bench on the sidewalk. Camera pans down the street to the house. The man is seen glancing out the window, curtains are pulled shut.

Scene4: The girl stands at the counter of a convenience store. Her hair is messy and her clothing is dirty. She counts coins in her hands and places them on the counter, taking her purchases. She leaves the store and walks outside, to what looks like an old factory. She enters the building and makes her way to sit on a crate.
(Nighttime)
The girl goes outside again. She sits on top of a car.
(Scene fades)

Scene5:(Flashback) Girl, in the house, sits at a kitchen table. The man arrives, carrying bags. He tosses them on the table, then sits on the couch, ignoring the girl. She stands to greet him, then begins removing groceries from the bags, putting them away.
(Scene fades)

Scene6: Return to girl on the car. a woman storms up to the car, silently screaming and waving her arms. The girl slides down and hurries away, brushing back her hair and wiping her eyes. She hurries back to the abandoned building and lays down on boxes, closing her eyes. Camera zooms on her face.
Screen fades, transitioning into a flashback. Camera zooms out from girl's face. She is laying , asleep, on the couch with the man, her head on his chest, his fingers in her hair.
Screen fades, transitioning back to abandoned building. the girl is falling asleep on the ground as the camera zooms out. Fade to black.

I Wanna Take A Ride On Your What Now?

So the tattoo is go.
Come August 20th Ill be sitting in a chair getting a needle jabbed into my arm thousands of times.
And for this I am very excited.

oh how this will hurt!
The artist is really excited to work on this one, and really, who can blame him?
I decided on
Zombies Ate my Neighbors
Sonci and Knuckles
Earthworm Jim
and Battle Toads
as the definites.
Ecco the Dolphin, Xmen, Flicky and other ones will be fillers.
The song Poker Face has been stuck in my head for a few days now, and I don't think I've ever even heard it all the way through.
Speaking of modern musi, can I please quickly ask:
WHAT THE FUCK IS A DISCO STICK?!
Anyhow.
Van is nearly home so I shall be going.

I Do Not Exist

My mind subconsciously feeds me song lyrics that are relevant to whichever situation I am in.
This is something that I just noticed today.

After waking up approximately five seconds ago.

I got a text from my mother, showing a picture of kids in robes and what not.
(you can guess where they were.)
Apparently she took my cousins to see Harry Potter at midnight.
As soon as I read this text I just got
"If you can keep a secret, I've got a blanket in the back seat on my mind"
REALLY WEIRD THING to be thinking when you get a text from your mom that is a picture of 12 year olds.
BUT
I then realized it was from the song Midnight Show by The Killers.

Strange how the almost-human mind works, isn't it?

We desperately need to go to the grocery store. Yes.

In a sweater poorly knit and an unsuspecting smile, little Moses drifts
downstream in the Nile. A fumbling reply, an awkward rigid laugh, I'm
carried helpless by my floating basket raft. Your flavor in my mind swings back
and forth between sweeter than any wine and bitter as mustard greens, light and
dark as honeydew and pumpernickel bread, the trap I set for you seems to have
caught my leg instead! As you plow some other field try and forget my
name, see what harvest yields, and, supposing
I'd do the same I planted rows of peas but by the first week of July
they should have come up to my knees but they were maybe ankle high. Take
the fingers from your flute to weave your colored yarns and boil down your fruit
to preserves in mason jars, but now the books are overdue and the goats are
underfed, the trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead.
You're a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence you made a holy fool of me
and I've thanked you ever since. If she comes circling back we'll end where
we'd begun like two pennies on the train track the train crushed into one.
Or if I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken open seed if I come without a
thing, then I come with all I need. No boat out in the blue, no place to
rest your head, the trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead!

Harpo Productions

Due to someone missreading something I had written on facebook ("I am currently making fudge and listening to opera"), I came to wondering"If Oprah Winfrey recorded an album and was giving a record deal, how many people would buy it?"
The breakdown of buyers would have quite an interesting breakdown, imaginably.

I believe it would consist mainly of stay-at-home moms and 4-chan-ers.
But the 4 chan-ers would probably just download it anyway.

Please think about this for a few.
Grazi.

Love Demon, I Am.

Currently I am on a quest to find a perfect upright bass. Unfortunately I do not have the kind of money that I would need to purchase one, so I will be waiting on incredibly long time. For a while now I have wanted to play rockabilly style bass, but this is kind of out of reach considering that there are very few people that hold this similar interest. And honestly, what good is just a bassist? regardless, I have found the bass that I want, I am not sure of the price. Though I did look on the website, and the basic that I want is approximately 890 dollars. Perhaps a it more due to the paint job.

Delicious.

Though I doubt many readers here are interested in finding an upright bass, the website is here, just in case sad, upright bassists has stumbled upon my site.

Put It In The Pantry With Your Cupcakes

Cover songs seem to be one of the best things I have ever discovered. Sometimes. You can either find really good covers, or really really bad covers. Rarely do you find one that is just okay. It is currently 8:43 PM and I am going to go get food at approximately 9:15. Between now and then I shall compose a list of cover songs. the good and the bad.
GO!

Good Covers

Boys Of Summer - The Ataris (Don Henley)
Astro Zombies - My Chemical Romance (Misfits)
My Sharona - The Number Twelve Looks Like You (The Knack)
Leaving On A Jetplane - MXPX (John Denver)
Mrs. Robinson - Pennywise (Simon And Garfunkle)
Come On Eileen - No Doubt (Dexy's Midnight Runners)
Ziggy Stardust - Bauhuas (David Bowie)
brown Eyed Girl - Reel Big Fish (Van Morrison)
Something - Radiohead (The Beatles)
Mad World - Gary Jules (Tears For Fears)
Mad World - Evergreen Terrace (Tears For Fears)
Zero - Evergreen Terrace (Smashing Pumpkins)
Video Killed The Radio Star - Amber Pacific (The Buggles)
Bring The Pain - Mindless Self Indulgence (Method Man)

Not So Good Covers

Landslide - The Dixie Chicks (Fleetwood Mac)
Leaving On A Jetplane - Jewel (John Denver)
Leaving On A Jetplane - Aerosmith (John Denver)
Do You Really Want To Hurt Me - Violent Femmes (Culture Club)
Nazi Punks Fuck Off - Napalm Death - (Dead Kennedys)
Uptown Girl - Weezer (Billy Joel)
White Wedding - Murderdolls (Billy Idol)
Paint It Black - The Black Dahlia Murder (The Rolling Stones)
Low - Brokencyde (Flo Rida)
I Will Survive - Cake (Gloria Gaynor)
Men In Black - Forever The Sickest Kids (Will Smith)
War Pigs - Faith No More (Black Sabbath)
Under The Bridge - Gym Class Heroes (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

And it's only 9:05, but I feel as though 13 of each is plenty. Maybe Ill put more some other time, why use em all up now.
But now, next time you're out looking for cover songs, there some you should get and some others you should avoid at all cost.
Unless of course you're Van, because I have a cover CD for you, so you don't need to download *COUGH* I mean, legally buy.... any of them.
THAT IS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

My Words Like Silent Raindrops Fell

Music can really do the silliest of things. It is said that smell is the strongest memory trigger, but I would have to say that music is. Yes, smell does trigger memories, but music triggers emotions that are attached to the memories.
I know that every time I smell fruit punch and popcorn I think of the movie theater that I worked at, but every time I hear "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" I think of the people at the movie theater and when this kid there was singing it. I don't know, perhaps it works in two totally different ways.
But, I know that I can no problem smell certain soaps, horse barns, or shampoos without a problem, but I can't listen to My Chemical Romance without gagging, even though they were a favorite band of mine.
I can also smell lunch meat, but can't listen to Less Than Jake.
Its really unusual how things work, I guess. Maybe I don't quite understand it yet. I just think that music holds far more memories and emotions than smells do. But then again, it must work in a different way.
I am rambling and not thinking clearly at the moment. Lets pretend I didn't write any of that.

I have marzipan roses to make! Boooo.
After being out of class for two days I do have bit of catching up to do.

I wonder what ever happened to Brittany Spencer?

Yeah, well today I was going to eh.ermmeh.mermer...*flicks leg*

How I managed to get sunburn while sitting in the shade for about an hour is beyond me. Awesome luck? I think so.

It might be time to find sunscreen that won't destroy my skin and start coating myself in it from head to toe. Ugh.
Thankfully it doesn't hurt, even though it will take weeks for it to heal up.
Many (if any) of you may be asking "Well what were YOU, blogger girl, doing out in the sun anyway? By the sound of it, it doesn't seem like you're going to be trying out of Survivor any time soon."
IIIII was outside. In the daylight (gasp!), watching my friends play baseball. Yep, I was watching people play baseball, sitting under trees, and still managed a to get a little bit of a burn. This isn't all that surprising coming from the girl that gets sunburns from sitting in a car with tinted windows, but anyway. Yes, baseball. And it was very fun. Perhaps I will watch them play baseball more often and bring a good camera to take better pictures. I only got crappy ones on my cell phone.
And I am currently listening to Madonna.
Hell yes.
And eating very stale peeps. But I feel like shit, so when I puke, I'll puke up a huge orange brick. AWESOME. Hopefully I'll finish with this costing soon enough. Its really very overwhelming, but when you break it down, it's really not so bad. It should go well.
Off I go. perhaps more to write later.

Like a little girl on a bed that was years ago deceased

Facebook:
4 friends have become a fan of God.
Become a fan!

Even God has a fanpage on facebook?
This confuses me a little bit. I wonder how often he updates...

Clicked 'next':
4 friends have become a fan of Jesus.
Become a fan!

Er...
Clicked 'next'

4 friends have become a fan of sleeping.
Become a fan!

So, my friends are fans of God, Jesus, and sleeping...this...seems odd...
"next"

...

C.S Lewis...4 friends are a fan of C.S. Lewis

Then, out of no where

4 friends are a fan of Seth Rogan.

So, Seth Rogan is right up there with God, Jesus, Sleeping and C.S Lewis.

And those were all the friend suggestions Facebook had for me. I think Facebook should mind it's own business and not make such drastic suggestions.
Way to be subtle, Facebook, then way to try and back pedal by throwing Seth Rogan in there.
You aren't fooling me.

Moving right along.
I have quite a bit of homework. It makes me laugh.

"Pipe 4 different designs, write Happy Birthday and put a border, make a marzipan rose"
That's my homework. Awesome.

So I'm going to do that now.

Holy shit...

If I Had A Gun, I'd Pump Your Ethics Full Of Lead

Printers may very well be the spawn of Satan (...). Rarely do I ever come across one that works in a simple and efficient way. I somehow managed to just print out twice as many things as I needed in the worst format of all time, and still didn't get all of it done. One would think that after paying mumblemumblemumblesomeoddthousand dollars to go to school at this place, they would at least give us books or papers that had all the information we needed on them, instead of making us buy a printer, ink, paper, etc to print it out. The closest thing they offer is having a place where you pay to have them print all your crap out and half the time it isn't right.

New class today. Cakes.
Boooo.
I'm plenty happy sitting on my floor eating popcorn and mangoes and listening to Protest The Hero. I'd rather be doing that. Having a lazy day.
Ah well. I guess Ill go learn to make more cakes.

His life is an exciting adventure.

YEAH TOAST!!

Total song count- 1473. Just on this computer. Not including the 4000 or so on my other one.

Go me.

Somehow ended up with a mysterious scratch on my arm.
Have been decorating Toaster Strudels like they're Petit Fours.
Eating preme peeps.
Been feeling charcoal wings brushing against my side.

Must be time for bed.
